This article will show you how to know if you are being marked Permanent offline by a buddy. I have tested this method using Yahoo Messenger 7,0,0,437
Well you can know if a buddy is online and has marked you permanent offline only if the guy has signed into yahoo in Available mode and NOT if he has signed as Invisible..
Here is how to proceed..
Visit any of the following links replacing the [username] with the required yahoo id..
- http://mail.opi.yahoo.com/online?u=[username]&m=g&t=0
This will show you as a yellow smiley if the person is online and gray if the person is offline or invisible. - http://mail.opi.yahoo.com/online?u=[username]&m=g&t=1
This will show up as a button with “Online Now” or “Not Online“ - http://mail.opi.yahoo.com/online?u=[username]&m=g&t=2
This will show an image (125×25) with “I am Online send me a message” or “Not Online right now“ - http://mail.opi.yahoo.com/online?u=[username]&m=a&t=0
This shows a text with “[username] is ONLINE or NOT ONLINE“ - http://mail.opi.yahoo.com/online?u=[username]&m=a&t=1
This shows “00” if person is offline and “01” if his status is online.
All the above links can be used as an Online Status generator (with some PHP offcourse) and also you can write up a small code to know if a particular guy is hiding from you 
Finally sometimes this method may return wrong results (if there is some problem in yahoo server) and if someone appears online to you but is offline as per this method then know that the guy has signed in as invisible and is appearing as online to you only (may be coz you are some one special )
Note : It always shows incorrect Yahoo id’s as offline..Do check the yahoo id carefully !!
Example : If your yahoo id is xyz..Try this method by using the url : http://mail.opi.yahoo.com/online?u=xyz&m=g&t=0
You can find out your invisible buddies by using BuddySpy (freeware)
Lastly this article is for educational purposes only and i am not responsible if anyone’s privacy is disturbed by this method.

Actually I think BuddySpy is a lot better since it gives you more information. But hey: Is it spyware free?

yeh buddyspy is surely is a nice tool…however i haven’t used that…check with Spybot S & D (after installation) to see if its a spyware or not

@postit : i think gaim (http://gaim.sf.net) gives that info..It shows you if someone has you in his/her buddy list..also it shows if you are being blocked by that guy !!

Hi, sorry but I couldn’t understand this properly. Can we know from the above URL if a person in my friend’s list is signed in as invisible? or is it just to know if a person has blocked you permanently?

i don’t think there is any proper method as such to crack yahoo passwords (apart from Social Engineering)..if you know any method you are always welcome to share it with us..

This method can only tell you if the person has *Blocked You Permanently*..to know if someone is invisible try BuddySpy

Works if user is logged on with YM 7,0,2,120. Does not seem to work if user is using YM 8.0.0.508.

Yahoo Messenger changed something at this new versions…7…8…and buddy spy or any online checker no longer works…i’m guessing they’ve changed some adress at there connection or somethin’ Is there any way to resolve this?

My Yahoo Messenger 8.0 Beta
Other Yahoo Messengers vary some 7.x versions
I get mixed results and cannot tell if I have been marked permanently offline by someone or if they are invisible.
I see Joe posted a not on August 29th saying something at Yahoo changed – is this being worked around?
Below are my scan tests with results.
Scan Type
Invite Packet – Everyone appears ONLINE all the time even when they are not.
Peer To Peer Packet – Everyone appears OFFLINE including the scanning account and I know some are online
Avatar Packet – Only those who are online in Yahoo Messenger or logged into a Yahoo page and not invisible appear as online.
Web Check – Only those who are online in Yahoo Messenger or logged into a Yahoo page and not invisible appear as online.

How do you crack yahoo passwords? I went to change password and I entered all the right information but when it asked me the security question I couldn’t get the right answer! What should I do once I get to this step?

Go to http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mspass.html and download mspass.zip to get most messenger passwords from the target machine(s).

BTW, If they logged on to their messenger on your machine, you may be able to get their password(s) also.

buddy spy/ buddy chk all are not made for macintosh user:(…so that I was looking for link using what I can see invisible users;)..who r tryin 2 hide:D…

@Hacker : That software only gave me my passwords stored in the local machine I couldn’t get how to get the other persons password. From the Website :
MessenPass can only be used to recover the passwords for the current logged-on user on your local computer, and it only works if you chose the remember your password in one of the above programs.
@Amit : It doesn’t show a guy online if he/she logins as invisible.

well i tried the URL method on myself while logged in in invisible mode – showed me as offline – also downloaded buddy spy and it too does not detect me as online while signed into yahoo messnger as invisible – is there anything out there that will break thru the stealth mode and really detect a person as online when they appear as offline???

this is awesome! its really working! buddyspy only works for me only for first time is had installed it, the next day i try to use buddyspy it always giving me wrong status. anybody encounter this problem with buddyspy

Don’t know why this happens. Actually I can find out a perticular person who is hiding from me by using a software. But it sends him/her a message “online”? It’s not good for anyone.

The status checking with the link described in the post works only if the target user doesn’t enalbe in his/her Yahoo account the “Check the box to hide my online status from other users.” option and the Y server(s) feels like providing accurate data.
Anyay, YMessenger and the Yahoo’s messenging service sucks (I’ve never seen such a bug-filled program like YMsgr).

I am impressed. I did not realize there was so much more to Yahoo im. It is a shame the average user will not investigate such privacy issues. Many users do not have a clue that there are Yahoo hacks and tools like mentioned here. I bet everyone here had fun testing the links out against their buddies and such. Thanks for the post. After the vesrion 8 Yahoo messenger, they changed some internal protocol so the buddy spy – general scan is not working..[It shows everyone offline]..
But there is a round about for this..
You can try scanning with Avatar PAcket and scan a few times ..
If someone is really online the status goes online and offline often.
If the person is really offline it stays offline..
One other point is if the user uses Yahoo older version and in some cases if they use a custom image in place of Avatar.. this shows the person online even when the id is offline..
It’s not a very 100% thingy – but 99% of the time..it is accurate and you can try it for yourself with some of your own id;s before you get the feel of it ..

there is a Simple Way to Check your friend’s Online Status………
just send one or two words thru yahoo messenger to your ‘offline’ friend… and start “Doodle Emviornment”…. if its working, it means ur friend is ONLINE. and if its not loading., it means your friend is OFFLINE. Simple na????

well all the above threads speak about ppl invisible or permanently offline.. but wat if someone has deleted u off their list …… well no software will findout if they are online…. so all those who want to remain free of getting detected from some one u dont want to…. remove them off ur list
